Coming to You Semi-Live From the Chair: New FAQs Abound!

Black Templars are the new Black
In a stunning change of policy, Games Workshop released their FAQs in a timely fashion! The report is over.

Alright, I'm joking, but they actually were pretty quick in releasing the FAQs. However, the major turnaround in this was the update of the Black Templar and Dark Angel equipment options. To start off, I'll go through the major Black Templar changes and list their probable effects.

Black Templar FAQ
Drop Pod Assault
No longer will you have to worry about killing yourself on friendly, but not enemy, units. Pretty minor, you may see a little variation in Drop Pod armies with deployment. They still can't bring in half the pods on the first turn. Pity.

Black Templar Bike Squadron
Bikes now have a bolt pistol and close combat weapon, so you'll probably see a slight increase in bike assaults.

Kill Them All
We no longer have to worry about target priority. Finally.

Storm/Combat Shield
We now have to pay five points more, but its worth it by quite a lot. The Storm Shields now give a 3+ invulnerable save. The combat shield also has a 6+ invuln. save. Expect to see many more TH/SS termies now that they can have Furious Charge and a 3+ Invuln. No more bullying the weaker termies, my 5th edition friends.

Narthecium
It now grants Feel No Pain. Suffice to say, black tide armies are about to become very, very durable.

Cyclone Missile Launcher
Your terminators can now take the regular old two shot missile launcher. This is very, very bad for Mech armies, as you've now got terminators capable of pumping out four missile launcher shots with tank hunters a turn with the capability for Tank Hunters. And then they can assault your tanks with power fists if you somehow don't die.

Thunder Hammer
Oh, cruel, cruel world. The Black Templars have lost the ability to make eldar and other scary, fast beasties almost automatically go at Initiative 1 in the second round. Now they can pass invulnerable saves and not have it affect them.

PotMS
Every vehicle in the army can now take the new and improved PotMS. Expect Vindicators and Predators on the level of the Blood Angels. Ouch!

Smoke Launchers
Another downgrade. They've lost their super smoke. Expect fewer Venerable Dreadnoughts with smoke launchers making them nigh invulnerable for a turn.

Typhoon
The Typhoon is now much better and also cheaper than the modern marine codices. Enjoy a large number of these guys flying around.

Finally, you can now officially deploy drop pods empty. How much do you want to bet we start seeing people make pretty drawings out of them.

That's it for the Black Templars. Tomorrow: Dark Angels, and why they are now one of the most feared armies in 40k. Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit. But they're still good.
